Day 2 in Seoul: Exploring Gyeongbokgung Palace, Dining at Geumdwaeji Sikdang, and Shopping in Myeongdong

Our second day in Seoul was packed with history, food, and a little bit of shopping fun. It was the perfect mix of culture and modern city vibes, and honestly, one of my favorite days of the trip.

We started the morning at Gyeongbokgung Palace, one of Seoul’s most iconic landmarks. Walking through the grand gates felt like stepping back in time. The palace grounds are massive, with beautiful courtyards, intricate architecture, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. If you time your visit right, you can even catch the changing of the guard ceremony—it’s colorful, lively, and a great photo opportunity. I’d definitely recommend wearing comfortable shoes because you’ll do a lot of walking, but it’s so worth it to take your time exploring.

After soaking in the palace, we headed to Geumdwaeji Sikdang, a Michelin-rated restaurant known for its incredible pork dishes. The food here was on another level—the meat was tender, flavorful, and grilled to perfection. What I loved most was how it felt both special and welcoming, not intimidating like some fine dining spots. If you’re a foodie traveling in Seoul, this place needs to be on your list.

We ended the night in Myeongdong, one of Seoul’s most famous shopping districts. The streets were buzzing with energy, lined with food stalls, skincare shops, and big-name brands. We made our way to the Nike store, which was huge and super interactive. The highlight was getting to design our own custom apparel—such a fun way to take home a unique souvenir.

By the time we got back to our hotel, we were tired but so happy. Day 2 in Seoul was the perfect blend of tradition, amazing food, and city excitement. If you’re planning your own trip, this itinerary gives you a little taste of everything that makes Seoul so special.
